Dynamic atmosphere in garden with various elevations
For the outdoor area of this house in Reeuwijk, Millboard's aesthetically pleasing but above all low-maintenance composite decking boards (Enhanced Grain in the colour Limed Oak) were chosen.
In accordance with the client's wishes, the outdoor space was coordinated with the distinctive interior of this semi-detached house in Reeuwijk. For the layout of the plot, situated in an exclusive location near the Reeuwijk Lakes, Groenregie spared no effort in crafting the outdoor space with ingenuity and aesthetics. The front garden's larger size compared to the back garden posed a challenge, along with the presence of several elevation differences within the garden.
Using symmetry as a starting point, the driveways for both houses were laid together to achieve unity. Between the pebbles is a path of sturdy tiles, and the elevated footpath is made of Millboard by Alterwood, combined with a row of inlaid ceramic tiles. In the backyard, too, Millboard boards are interspersed with these tiles and elevation differences have been handled creatively. The terrace, with its lounge sofa, faces the dazzling water feature, providing ultimate tranquillity. A clever detail here is that the decking was laid in opposing directions at the corner of the house to create a clear distinction between the functions of walkway and terrace.
The customer's brief expressly stated that tiles should not discolour, there should be no more issues with subsidence despite the elevation differences and no more slippery, green decking. And precisely for the latter reason, Millboard's aesthetically pleasing but above all low-maintenance composite decking boards (Enhanced Grain in the colour Limed Oak) were chosen. The natural, authentic look and the modern, contemporary look suit the garden well, in combination with the other materials used. Fortunately, this also means that nasty slips and falls resulting from boards becoming slippery due to rain or algae growth are now prevented. This is because the resilient, non-porous Lastane™ top layer is inherently grippy and algae cannot adhere to it, giving the board the best non-slip properties. Moreover, the top layer is also UV and weather resistant. It is virtually impervious to discolouration and has excellent resistance to frost and rain. Warping and rotting are also things of the past, thanks to the unique composition of the boards. The material also allows mitred corners to be made and glued to create neat, tight corner joints.
