Rural family villa, Berkel en Rodenrijs
This villa with a rural, modern feel is all about harmony, tranquillity and sophistication. The villa has been designed with attention to detail and respect for its surroundings. And that vision is carried through into the carefully designed outdoor space, which is more than an extension of the home: it is a place where indoors and outdoors blend seamlessly.
The residents wanted not just a functional garden, but a fully-fledged living space where tranquillity and nature take centre stage. It was to be an outdoor space with several seating areas and a large terrace around the villa. A generous swimming pool and an outdoor kitchen were also among the wishes. And the ambiance? Modern with a Mediterranean feel, matching the villa’s rural yet modern character. An eye for nature and durability also played an important role.
The garden frames the house, so to speak, and, like the interior, is laid out with grand gestures: generous green borders, large planters, large-format tiles, a generous pool and jacuzzi, a luxurious outdoor kitchen and several terraces. The outdoor spaces differ in atmosphere, function and size, with the high-quality materials feeling both inviting and luxurious. By choosing durable materials that require minimal maintenance, more time can be spent enjoying the garden. The natural planting and clever use of height differences give the garden an organic, dynamic character. More modern, cooler materials are interspersed with rural, warm elements such as thatch and Millboard decking from AlterWood to create perfect harmony.
Enhanced Grain decking boards were chosen in the colour Antique Oak, which, with its authentic look and warm hue, perfectly complement the rural yet modern character of the villa. The decking boards were used at the pool and jacuzzi, as well as on the terrace where the luxury outdoor kitchen is situated. The board is virtually indistinguishable from real wood and offers numerous practical benefits that contribute to the durability and enjoyment of the garden. For example, the 100% wood-free Millboard decking boards are scratch- and stain-resistant, and they will not discolour, rot, or warp. Moreover, the material is naturally slip-resistant, and the unique top layer provides extra grip, which is ideal for use around the pool and jacuzzi. The decking boards also require little to no maintenance.
The natural texture and colour of the boards complement the surrounding planting and thatched roof, creating a balanced look. With attention to detail, a focus on experience, and the use of durable materials with a natural feel, this garden is not only pleasing to the eye, but also a place where the residents enjoy daily comfort and beauty in harmony with nature.

"We like cosiness and having our friends and family around us. For us, a cosy outdoor seating area was important. So that we can enjoy the sun at any time of the day. The garden design was an instant hit. Amazing how garden architect GBI translated our wishes into a garden design that perfectly suits our wishes and the architectural style of the newly built villa. Purple flowers, natural tones and dark elements. These colours fit seamlessly with the interior. As a result, inside and outside feel like one. For me, as an interior stylist, harmony is important and this garden design succeeded perfectly. It is lovely to invite our friends and family for cosy gatherings in this beautiful setting. Sitting outside on our terrace until late and enjoying the outdoors. Enjoying a good wine and conversation with our friends and family. For us, that is enjoying life in Spanish style. For the children, the garden provides a safe and stimulating environment where they can play carefree."
