Planning a new deck, garden or façade is exciting—but once you've chosen Millboard, another question quickly follows: which style is right for your project? Warm oak or contemporary grey? Clean architectural lines or flowing organic patterns? A subtle timber texture or a more characterful, weathered finish?
To help you decide, we’ve outlined the differences between Millboard’s collections, colours and surface textures, making it easier to find the perfect combination for your outdoor space.

Design: Defining the Shape of Your Outdoor Space
Before selecting a colour or texture, consider the overall design of your deck. With the Modello Collection, you’re free to create a layout that reflects your personal style.
Modello Linear features clean, symmetrical lines that create a refined architectural appearance, making it an ideal choice for contemporary and minimalist projects. Modello Contour offers a completely different aesthetic. Inspired by flowing water and natural landscapes, its organic curves create softer transitions and eye-catching focal points within a design. By offsetting the boards, more than fifty unique laying patterns can be created, ranging from calm and structured layouts to bold, expressive designs.
Whether you choose a complete Modello deck, an inlay feature or separate design zones, the collection offers exceptional design flexibility. Inlays can highlight entrances, seating areas or walkways, while zoning helps define outdoor dining spaces, lounge areas or circulation routes without disrupting the overall harmony of the design.
Colour: Creating the Right Atmosphere
Once the layout has been decided, colour becomes one of the biggest influences on the overall character of your project. Millboard offers a carefully curated palette, ranging from warm oak tones with subtle reddish hues to contemporary grey, blue-grey and anthracite finishes.
If you’re unsure where to start, think first about the atmosphere you’d like to create. Warm colours feel welcoming and timeless, while cooler greys complement modern architecture and minimalist landscapes. Within the façade collections, colours such as Antique Oak and Smoked Oak are available in Board & Batten, while Limed Oak creates a lighter appearance and Burnt Cedar offers a richer, darker aesthetic within the Shadow Line+ collection.
Clean and Contemporary: Enhanced Grain & Board & Batten
If you appreciate modern architecture and understated elegance, Enhanced Grain and Board & Batten are excellent choices.
Enhanced Grain is Millboard’s most refined decking collection. Its subtle timber grain faithfully recreates the character of premium oak while maintaining a clean, contemporary appearance suitable for both residential and architectural projects.
Board & Batten, designed specifically for façades, introduces depth and rhythm through alternating board profiles. The result is a façade that feels both contemporary and timeless while providing long-lasting protection against the elements.
Rich Character: Weathered Oak & Shadow Line+
For those seeking a more rustic or expressive appearance, Weathered Oak and Shadow Line+ offer greater depth and texture.
Weathered Oak is moulded from reclaimed oak boards that are over a century old, preserving every crack, knot and natural imperfection. The result is an authentic weathered appearance with remarkable character. Available in several colours, the collection allows you to combine a traditional timber aesthetic with a palette suited to contemporary outdoor design.
Shadow Line+ brings the same authentic timber appearance to façades. Its wider profile enhances the natural grain and creates elegant shadow lines that give buildings additional depth and architectural interest.
Finding the Right Combination
There isn’t one perfect choice—only the combination that best reflects your home, architecture and personal style. Start by choosing the design that suits your project, then select the colour that creates the desired atmosphere and finish with the surface texture that brings everything together. Would you like to compare colours and textures in person?
